>The 2nd Annual Gardevoir's Sanctuary Fan-Art Contest is Now Open!<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 2nd Annual Gardevoirs Sanctuary Fan-Art Contest is now open!
This fan-art contest is all about the Ralts line Pokémon: Ralts, Kirlia, Gardevoir and Gallade.
Anyone is welcome to enter, club member or not! ^_^
This event is going to run from January 1st, 2009 all the way to September 31st, 2009: this will be the last day to submit entries.
Why is the contest running for so long? This is simply because I want to give all participating artists plenty of time to work on their entries.
Judging will begin in October with all the winners and scoring announced on the first Monday of November, 2009.
Please read on to see all the rules, guidelines and how to enter. Listed below is the contest prize as well as all the drawing categories that are available this year.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>The Prize!<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All entries that receive 3rd Place or better, will be featured in every Gardevoir's Sanctuary Newsletter for an entire year!
All 1st through 3rd place winners will also have their drawings added to Gardevoir's Hall of Fame
On top of that, the four highest-scoring 1st Place Winners shall have their drawings put up on the front page of the Hall of Fame!
Lastly, the winner of The Doctor's Challenge category will have their drawing as the Featured Deviation of the front page of the Hall of Fame! See the categories further down for more information.
In a nutshell, the prize of this contest is getting an entire year of exposure for not just your drawings, but also of your skills and talents.
Lastly, all other entries will be added to the Favorites gallery of the Hall of Fame for posterity.

>Contest Rules<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any regulars of Gardevoir's Sanctuary
As a result, breaking any of the following rules will result in immediate disqualification. I don't aim to come across as mean or as a nit-picker, but I want a nice clean contest with wonderful artwork from great artists that I can showcase proudly without any second thoughts. There's already enough... questionable Ralts line fan-art out there and I won't have any of that here in my club or my contest.
I reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone.
The main rules are quite simple and many are the same as from last year's contest:
1. No ecci or hentai is allowed. Period. Let's all have some respect for one of the most caring and beautiful Pokémon, eh? This should not be a problem for any member of this club.
2. Pictures with graphic violence or are just downright hateful to the Ralts line will not be allowed.
3. No nudity. We're keeping things clean around here. No artistic nudity, either. Simple enough, isn't it?
4. No profanity is allowed in the entered picture or Artist Comments.
5. No Yaoi or Yuri
6. No romantic human/Pokémon relationships
7. No images of scantly-clad Pokémon or Pokémon with an over-sized bust
8. No inflation artwork
9. Do not steal artwork! Me and the other judges will be keeping an eye on all entries. Any suspicious artwork will be flagged, investigated and disqualified when required.
10. Your drawing needs to be tagged properly for the contest. To do this, you will need to put the following information in the Artist's Comments box of your Deviation:
a. Which category you are entering into
b. You need to say that your drawing is part of the 2nd Gardevoir's Sanctuary Fan-Art Contest.
c. The Gardevoirs Sanctuary club logo must be present.
11. If you have an older drawing on DeviantArt that you would like to enter, you may enter your drawing into its appropriate category so long as the drawing has been on DeviantArt since September 1st, 2008. All posted drawings on DeviantArt that are older than the target date may not be submitted.
12. You may submit as many drawings as you want! However, you may not submit the same drawing to more than one category.
13. Other Pokémon may in your drawing, but the Ralts line Pokémon of your choice must be front and center or must be the main focus of your drawing. For example, an epic drawing of Mewtwo with a Ralts hanging around somewhere in the background will not qualify for this contest.
If you have any questions about this contest, please do not hesitate to ask me by sending me a DA Note.
Well, enough of the regulations. Now for the good stuff!

>The Drawing Categories!<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the categories for this year's contest. Many are the same categories from last year.
#1- Still-life: Just a drawing of one or more of the Ralts line Pokémon in a nice pose and with a good background as well.
#2- Action!: A drawing of one or more of the Ralts line Pokémon in motion. Such as combat, dancing, etc.
#3- Amusing Comic: A short, one page comic featuring the Ralts line Pokémon. It can be funny either by dialog or from whatever madness ensues. >
#4- Serious Comic: A one page comic with a no-nonsense feel featuring the Ralts line Pokémon. Either a fight, a romantic moment (Keep it clean), etc.
#5- Crossover: Place one or more of the Ralts line Pokémon into another universe, such as another movie or anime of sorts with proper attire (If applicable) and a decent background. As an example, I've always wanted to see a Gardevoir as a robed Jedi.
#6- Gijinka: This is a new category. The concept is to take one or more of the Ralts line Pokémon and give it a more human-like appearance. The drawing can be a still-life or can be an action scene, such as a fight, dancing, etc.
#7- The Doctor's Challenge: This category is not for the faint of heart. To enter this grouping, you have to draw a scene from one of my fan-fictions: characters, scenery and all. There are no limits to this one, besides the obvious rules listed above and one or more of the Ralts line Pokémon must be in the drawing.
There are several stories to choose from in my fan-fiction series. The titles here are in chronological order:
1. The Village Guardian
2. Project Omega
3. The Final Strike
4. The Village Guardians Chapter #1- Glacier's Glory
5. The Village Guardians Chapter #2- Joy and Shadows
My fan-fictions can be found here
Please remember that the winner of this category is guaranteed to be on the front page of the Gardevoir's Hall of Fame account. ^_^
If you have any questions about this or any other category, please do not hesitate to ask.

>Contest Judging and Critiquing<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I, Dr. Mack Foxx, and two or more other judges shall determine the winners of each category using the following criteria. All of the following attributes are scored in a range of 0 to 10 (0=Some of the Worst, 5=Average, 10=Some of the Best!)
#1- Coloring: This is all about the quality of given hues and shades in a drawing. More elaborate coloring will get a higher score while simple coloring will result in a lower score.
Please note: for black and white drawings, its all about the shading. I've seen a lot of excellent pictures in gray-scale.
#2- Detail: The more complex the rendering for characters and scenery, the better.
#3- Overall Quality: How does your drawing measure up compared to others in its class? Highly-detailed drawings with fabulous, well-though out coloring or precise shading will, over all, win the day.
Now, I'm not expecting perfection here.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places will be awarded for each category.

>Want to Volunteer for Judging this Contest?<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will need at least two other people to please volunteer to assist with judging this contest.
To Qualify as a Judge for this Contest, you must meet these requirements:
#1: You must have an up-to-date version of Windows Live Messenger. I prefer not to use AIM or other IM programs. Please note that Windows Live Messenger is compatible with Hotmail and Yahoo! E-mail accounts and can support conferencing chats, which will be necessary for carrying out the judging.
#2: I am online every Monday thru Friday at 1:30PM to 5:00PM Pacific Time. You will need to be able to be online at these hours so we can talk amongst each other about one drawing at a time. Online meetings will be set up ahead of schedule.
#3: You are disqualified from the contest and may not enter anything.
#4: You must have a good sense of telling fabulous artwork from the average and will be able to grade properly on all the critiquing attributes.
Feel free to contact me if you are interested in judging this contest.

Hey, why did I ever come here? Because DA RULZ!!
Well, my original plan was to do a conference chat with all the contest judges at the same time so we could all go over each contest entry together.
However, that plan has pretty much been shot as I have no other judges to work with at this time.
I do have AIM and if you really want to help me judge the contest when the time comes, I would greatly appreciate it.
If so, then it will be very easy to arrange a meeting through AIM and we can then work together to judge the contest entries. Does this sound good to you?
